Can I add Atoa to my point-of-sale system?
Yes. Atoa integrates with leading hospitality POS systems, including Tevalis, Kurve, pointOne, and more, so payments sync straight back to your system without any manual work.
If your current system isn't in our list of integrations, let your provider know about us and we'll work on adding the connection.
How should I display my QR codes?
You can place QR codes wherever customers are most likely to pay. Common placements include:
-
Table stickers or card holders for pay-at-table
-
Printed on receipts or check presenters
-
At the bar or self-service kiosks
-
On digital menus or ordering screens
Linking each QR code to the right table or station makes it easy to track payments without any extra steps.
Can my waiting staff take payments?
Yes. You can add your whole team to Atoa and control what each person can access.
There are three built-in roles to choose from:
-
Cashier – can take payments but has limited visibility
-
Supervisor – has broader access to manage and review payments
-
Admin – has the same access as the account owner
You can also create a Custom role, give it a name, and assign it exactly the permissions you want. This is useful if your team structure doesn't fit neatly into the standard options.
All activity is visible in your dashboard, so you always have a clear view of payments across your team.
Does Atoa have a tip feature?
Yes. You can enable tipping so customers can leave a gratuity at checkout, no prompting needed from your team.
To turn it on, go to Tipping on the menu and toggle tips on. You can choose:
-
Most tipped – shows the most popular tip amounts
-
Custom amount – lets customers choose what they want to leave
Enabling tips can increase your takings by up to 10%.
How does a customer actually pay using Atoa?
When a customer is ready to pay, they scan the QR code on the table or tap the payment link you've sent them.
From there, they can:
-
Pay directly from their banking app using Face ID, fingerprint, or passcode
-
Pay by debit or credit card (if card payments are enabled)
The whole process takes seconds. There's no app to download and no card machine to bring to the table.
How quickly do payments settle?
Pay by Bank payments settle instantly, with funds arriving in your account in real time. Every payment is confirmed the moment it's made, so your records are always up to date.
If you're an enterprise business, you can opt for consolidated payouts. All payments from the day batched into a single settlement the following morning.
Can I take advance payments for group bookings or events?
Yes. You can send a secure payment link via SMS or email to collect a deposit or full payment before the visit.
This is useful for:
-
Large group reservations or private dining
-
Pre-ordered food and drinks packages
-
Private catered events
-
Events or ticketed evenings
Once the customer opens the link, they can pay by bank or by card. You'll see the payment confirmed instantly in your dashboard.
Can Atoa help me collect more Google reviews?
Yes. When a customer pays through an Atoa payment link, they're automatically prompted to leave a Google review. There’s no chasing or follow-up needed from your team.
Here's how it works:
-
Reviews of four stars and above are published directly to your connected Google Business Profile
-
Lower ratings are routed privately to your Atoa dashboard, so you can follow up with the customer before anything goes public
-
You can respond to all reviews from within your dashboard, in one place
-
The feature can be switched on or off at any time from your account settings
Because the prompt goes out at the moment of payment, when the experience is freshest, you're far more likely to get a response than with a follow-up email or verbal ask.
What happens if a customer needs a refund?
You can issue refunds directly from your Atoa dashboard.
If you have the Atoa Payouts feature and sufficient balance, refunds can be processed instantly. If not, the refund will typically be returned within a few working days.
You can also process refunds manually if needed. Either way, the payment record stays visible in your dashboard so everything is clearly tracked.
